Reno, Part 2

Okay, I finally have a few minutes to upload these pictures and tell you how our Reno trip was. Bobi and I left on Friday morning to fly out to Reno for Aunt Shirl's funeral. We arrived around 1:00 pm and then the fun begin! To backtrack this story a little bit, 2 years ago when we went to California for our cruise, we had rented some cars for the weekend. These cars we got were a Kia Rondo and a Kia Sportage. Okay, Mike and Bobi's car was the Sportage and it wasn't too bad, but Scott and I got stuck with the Rondo which was a total piece of **@*! Sorry if I offend anybody who owns a Kia, but they are!!! So anyway, we get to the rental place and what car do they give us? Yep, a Kia Optima. Are we Kia magnets or what??? Next time we have to rent a car we decided we are renting a convertible. I had printed out maps of how to get from the airport to the Atlantis Resort, so off we go with me driving and Bobi navigating. Just so you know if you are ever with Bobi and you need to find a place, don't listen to her! Yep, we were lost. We could see the Atlantis in the distance and knew that we needed to go south but we ended up driving through the ghetto of Reno to get there. Finally, we arrive and we walk in to check-in and Mike and Lou's family were all standing there too. They had all drove out and we just all got there at the same time.
Our room was on the 11th floor - a view of Reno The street from our room, those round things are fountains
Bobi, relaxing in our room We went and ate lunch with Uncle Mike and his family and then Bobi and I left and drove down the street and found a mall. We found a few things we couldn't live without and then we went back to the hotel and went and had Sushi - yep, even I ate it and it was delicious! Saturday morning, Bobi woke up bright and early at 6:30 to go to the fitness center but I slept till 7:30, just in time for our spa appointments at 8:00 am. We both had these amazing Body Wraps at the spa. We didn't want to leave, but we had a funeral to attend and Steve was on his way. It was great to see him! The funeral services for Aunt Shirl were really nice. The family did a great job. We got to visit with everybody and then we headed back to the hotel in a snow storm! We ended the night with alot of visiting with Uncle Mike and Aunt Lou, Dave, Steve, George and Kelly and Russ and Tiffany.
This is Aunt Shirl's memorial book. Wasn't she a pretty lady??

Sunday morning, we had to be at the airport at 9:00am, so we were up bright and early. We said our goodbye's to Steve and then off we go to the airport. Our flight was on-time when we left the hotel, but by the time we got through security, we had a ten-minute delay. Well, that 10-minute delay turned to a 3 hour delay before we were finally able to take off. Steve, in the meantime, was stuck at the hotel because 1-80 was closed for a few hours. He was finally able to leave and it took him 4 hours to get home. Bobi and I arrived in Salt Lake at 5:00 and then our sister weekend was over. I got home at 7:00 and my family had dinner waiting for me. I was pleasantly shocked :)

  1. Must be a Walker curse because I get stuck with Kia's every time I rent a car as well. LOL! Glad you had a good trip and Aunt Shirl was indeed a beauty. Glad the service went well.
