Delta Football Semi-Finals at Rice-Eccles Stadium

The Delta High football team made it to the 3A state semi-finals and so they got to play at Rice-Eccles Stadium at the University of Utah. Sharlene, Shay, Cassady, Jessica and I drove up and went to the game and met Whitney and Jessica there. It was really cold, but we had lots of fun even though Delta got beat and their season came to an end. No pictures of the football game sorry!

Our LIttle Vacation

So, Shay and I had this great idea last summer to head to Disneyland sometime. After going over schedules, we decided to go during my kid's fall break from school. Everything got planned and on Friday, October 22nd, we left at 6:30 am for Disneyland! We had reserved a rental van in Cedar and when we got there they upgraded us to a 2010 black Chevy Suburban! It was really nice and we all felt a little like celebrities! I drove to Las Vegas and my kids had never been there so we went and drove down the strip and then found a place to have lunch. After we had all stretched our legs, Shay drove and I was the co-pilot for that leg of the trip. Everybody else fell asleep in the back and Shay and I had a great time laughing and looking at the barren desert. Finally at 5:00 pm, we got to our hotel and got checked in. We stayed at the Anaheim Fairfield Inn that was right across the street from Disneyland. We went and walked through Downtown Disney that night and bought some caramel apples that were WAY overpriced!

Bright and early Saturday morning we all got ready and headed to the Happiest Place on Earth! We started in Tomorrowland and went on the Buzz Lightyear ride. It was fun shooting all the Zurgs. Then Shay, Kaden, Jessica and I went and rode Space Mountain while Sharlene, Cassady and Lacee chilled out for a little while. I have to tell you that is not my most favorite ride, but the other three loved it! Anyway, we spent the whole day at Disneyland and it was totally exhausting!

On Sunday morning, we got up and drove out to Newport Beach. I think this was Cassady and Lacee's very favorite thing to do. They played in the waves and gathered sea shells. On our way back, we spotted a Shoe City and Kaden wanted to stop so we did and we all found us a pair of shoes. And then we stopped at this KFC that was a real dive...kinda scary and we were the only white people there. When we got back, we walked over to California Adventure and went on "Soarin' Over California" which was one of our favorite rides. We spent the rest of the day there and then we went to "Goofy's Kitchen" and had a character dining experience. Shay, Cassady and Lacee really liked meeting all the characters and having them sign their books!

On Monday morning, we went back over to California Adventure and rode the new Toy Story ride. It was really fun, but the line was SOOOOO long. Then we went and caught the "Alladin" show. After that, we walked back over to Disneyland and rode some more rides and watched the parade. Disneyland closed at 6:00 that night so we said good-bye to Disneyland and went and ate at The Cheesecake Factory. That place is sooo good. We all ate and ate and then ordered cheesecake and ate it all too!

We left Tuesday morning about 10:00 am with me and the wheel and Shay co-piloting. Everybody was just dozing off, when Lacee's balloon popped, except we didn't know her balloon popped and Shay and I thought we blew a tire and Cassady thought we were getting shot at. But then Lacee started crying and then we were all laughing uncontrollable and I about wrecked the suburban because we were laughing so hard. I drove to St. George and then Sharlene drove to Cedar and then Shay drove the last leg of the trip, which seemed FOREVER getting home. But finally we made it about 8:00 pm and I think we were all glad to be back home.

We had a great time and we need to do it again sometime!

Tough Loss :(

The game last night ended in a tough loss for Delta. The boys played a great game but the refs decided to make a bad call and it cost us the game. With 2:00 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Juab had the ball and it should have been a fourth down, but the ref moved the ball to make it a first down, even though the line judge was saying no, the ball should be marked here for the fourth down. Anyway, after ten minutes of arguing and the Delta crowd going berserk, the ref signaled first down and Juab ended up scoring a touchdown and then kicking the extra point to beat us by 1 point. Kaden played another great game and almost had a couple of quarterback sacks! We are really proud of him. Anyway, the JV team ended up with a record of 7-3 and we are looking forward to another great season next year!

And so now that we are done with football, I don't know what I'm going to write about anymore till baseball starts, so somebody better take my place!!!

AND, we are going to DISNEYLAND tomorrow! So excited! Okay, so I will have something to blog about when we get back!!!

Delta vs Emery 10-12-10

We played Emery on Tuesday and they won 34-14. The boys played great! The last game of the year is on Wednesday against Juab over in Nephi. It should be a really great football game.

And it's been one year ago that Kaden got sick and took us for a roller coaster ride! He is doing great and has had no problems whatsoever. We are thankful everyday that we had a good ending.

Delta vs North Sanpete

On Thursday, we played North Sanpete here in Delta. They just did a Sophomore/Freshman game because I guess North Sanpete didn't have a JV team. Anyway, it was a pretty boring game...the score at the end of the first quarter was 24-0 for Delta. Kaden scored the first touchdown and I missed it because I was moving over on the bleachers to let my friends sit down! Oh well :) The coaches pulled all the sophomores after halftime and let all the freshman play and we ended up winning 40 to 6. Next up...Richfield!

Great Stone Face

So Scott, Lacee and I were kinda bored Sunday afternoon so we decided to drive out to Great Stone Face. We had never been there before. Ya I know, it's only ten miles from Delta. It's kinda neat to see. You drive around this corner of a mountain and there it is - right on top of the mountain. We thought that the closer you get up to it, the more it resembles Joseph Smith.

Touchdown!

On Thursday, the 23rd, we played Manti here in Delta and Kaden scored his first touchdown! It was an intense game that went into overtime with the score tied at 8. They held each other scoreless until the 3rd quarter until Kaden caught this pass to put us on the board! The second picture you can see the ball on top and then I realized he was hopefully going to catch the ball and he did! The next picture was when his teammates surrounded him in the end zone. I was screaming and jumping up and down, so I didn't get the actual catch! High Five!
They let him carry the ball to the refStill talking about what a great catch that was!
The score at the end of regulation play
And the final score! We won! They let each team start on the 30 yard line (I think) and they give each team a shot at scoring. Manti started first and didn't score and then it was our turn and we didn't score, so they started again and we scored a touchdown, so they let Manti have a chance at scoring and we held them and won the game!

After the JV game, they played 2 quarters of a Sophomore game and Kaden scored a touchdown in that game too! He got to play on the offense and defense in this game.

The boys are improving every game and it is so fun to watch them succeed!

Delta vs Stansbury 9-16-10

We played Stansbury High School on Thursday and it was one of their more exciting games! Both teams seemed to be matched up equally. We won! Yeah!

Go Delta Football!
Kaden
Kipp #80 and Kaden #15 getting the next play. Also, do you notice how he doesn't have his jersey tucked in? Well, he hates to tuck his jersey in and he did this same thing during baseball. Every game the ref says, "#15, you need to tuck your jersey in" and so he does and then it comes undone again and it just continues on.....LOL

Delta vs Park City - 9-2-10

Delta played Park City on Thursday and both JV and Freshman won their games. I have to brag on Kaden a little because he had a great game! He caught 2 passes for some good yardage! And if you know Delta football, they don't throw the ball very often, so it was really exciting for him. The coaches said he came off that field with a big grin on his face! The third time he was thrown to in this game, a Park City player intercepted the ball and Kaden was so mad, he got up and chased the kid down and tackled him. The Stephensen temper comes out in him once in awhile! The boys played really well and it looked like things were clicking together for them. It is so much fun to win!

This is the first pass he caught On the line
