Uncle Mike

Last Tuesday night uncle Mike slipped on the step of his semi and fell. He hit his head and was knocked unconscious. He was in the hospital for 2 days. He got out the hospital and went home Thursday afternoon. They couldn't find any broken bones. He is dizzy and has some pain in his shoulder.

How Cold Is It?

Yesterday we woke up with frosty trees and I thought "I need to take a picture of that to show Suzy that THIS is what cold is." But of course I didn't get it done yesterday morning, so I was going to get up this morning and hurry and take a picture of the frosty trees and guess what? No, no frost this morning. I'm bummed. Maybe this weekend I can get a picture of all the snow we are supposed to get! Is spring around the corner???

Pinewood Derby

Hey Amanda, you and Kevin and the boys need to watch the movie "Down and Derby." It is hilarious! It's about how competitive the derby gets with parents! If you can't find it anywhere, let me know and I'll send it to you to watch.

Cruisin'

Here we all are on a water taxi in San Antonio. It's a little fuzzy beacuse it was taken with my cell phone! It was very cold that morning, but all the boys wanted was to take a boat ride. We've done it every time we've been to SA, but it apparently never gets old for the kids!

What a great idea! This will be a fun way to stay in touch. We are keeping really busy out here. Last week we went to Monster Jam in San Antonio. Watching an arena full of oversized trucks crushing stuff is remarkably satisfying!! The boys keep us busy-it's wonderful chaos all the time! Durham will be 8 soon. He and Kevin are involved with Cub Scouts, he LOVES Legos, and starts swim lessons and afternoon science classes next month. Luke is 5, loves school, terrorizing his family with his light saber (thanks again Kevin) and starts another season of t-ball soon. Hud is 3, but if asked will tell you he's 6; you'd better not tell him he can't do anything his big brothers do because "he is a BIG BOY TOO". (That's a direct quote!) He also loves Legos. And t-ball and swim lessons. And pretty much everything his brothers do.Kevin keeps busy a work, then dashes off to whatever meeting or activity we have to do at night. He is an assisstant Cub Master for our pack and has had a lot of fun with Durham buiding soap box cars, camping and in March the pine car derby. This year there will be a derby for the parents too. Yeah, that won't be competitive AT ALL!!As for me, I try to keep everything looking livable (forget clean!) and the noise down to a dull roar. Keeping track of the calendar is a full time job in itself!Hope everyone is well-we'll be in touch!

I hope everybody is not freezing like we are. The high yesterday was only 65 degrees. If this continues we are going to move further south. I can't handle this cold weather. Zeke is semi-retired now so all you young folks keep working and contribute to social security so we can afford to eat and pay our heating bill. Grandma is doing fine, plays bridge with the girls every Monday. The youngest is 82. I had all eight at my house for their Christmas Bridge party. It took me three days to recover. Zeke and I spent a couple of days before Christmas in Texas with Amanda, Kevin, and kids and had a great visit. Other than that, we keep busy, do a lot of Rhett sitting and a little housework. Glad all is well with everyone and all you kids in college, hurry up and graduate and get into the work force - my 401K is now a 201k.

Hi everyone!! Happy Birthday this week to Zeke and Suzi!!

We've been busy this last week with basketball games, practice, etc. Brendan is signed up for this program called "Smart Start Basketball" that teaches little kids basketball skills. Finally he gets to do something rather than just watching his brother and sister! He is very excited.

Also, stay tuned for some hilarious pictures of Mike and I playing indoor soccer!! We got talked into joining a team with some friends. Last night was our first game. I can't say what the final score was since they stopped recording the other teams' goals, but we did get 2 points!!! Mike did great as the goalie, but we are moving a little slow today! I'm sure for anyone watching, it provided great comic relief. Fortunately, the game last night as at 10:20pm so the kids didn't come watch!!

Anyway, this blog thing is a great idea and it's fun to check to see new posts.
